Is there a Happy Death Day 3 release date?
Happy Death Day 3 does not have an official release date, but it will likely be announced in the future.
At the time of the second film’s release, writer-director Christopher Landon stated that he had ideas for the third film and producer Jason Blum stated that the development of the third film depended upon how Happy Death Day 2U performed. While it was commercially successful, its box-office return was still lower than what was projected. Answering a fan’s question on X (formerly Twitter), Blum stated the third film was unlikely to happen but not impossible. In July 2019, Landon announced on the same platform that the third film was not in development, though in August, he said he had developed an outline for the film and would hopefully share it on some medium.
Landon told Empire magazine in September 2020 that the third film had been put aside but did reveal the tentative title of the project. “I guess I can give you the title without pissing everybody off,” he said. “It does not have the ‘3’ in there! But it’s called Happy Death Day To Us. That is the working title.”
In February 2023, Landon offered updates on the project in an interview with Screen Rant. “Look, I can only say I’ve had an idea for Happy Death Day 3 for a while, he revealed. “It’s been pitched to everyone, so that’s a real thing.”
