Black Adam 2 Release Date Rumors: Is It Coming Out?

Fans have been wanting to know whether or not Black Adam 2 was happening ever since the first film came out almost a year ago. Based on the eponymous DC Comics character, it follows the titular character with divine powers, who comes out of imprisonment after 5,000 years and decides to subject the world to his kind of justice.

Here’s all the Black Adam 2 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Black Adam 2 release date?

Black Adam 2 does not have a release date.

This is because Black Adam 2 is not happening thanks to the leadership changes that recently took place at Warner Bros. Discovery which saw James Gunn and Peter Safran being instated as the CEOs of DC Studios, according to Dwayne Johnson, who revealed this information in Kevin Hart’s show Hart to Heart.

Moreover, due to Black Adam being a box-office bomb, it is very likely that Gunn would not want to use the character in any capacity in his DC Universe. Moreover, Gunn also did not mention Dwayne Johnson’s name when he revealed via Threads the names of the actors who would reprise their roles from the DC Extended Universe in his partially-rebooted DC Universe.

This situation is in contrast to what Dwayne Johnson revealed via Twitter back on December 21, 2022, where he stated that although Black Adam would not be a part of James Gunn’s first DCU chapter, he and the latter were exploring opportunities to integrate the character later down the line. Gunn even hinted at this being the case back then via his positive reaction to Johnson’s message.

Where is Black Adam 2 coming out?

Black Adam 2 isn’t confirmed to release in theaters.

Before plans for Black Adam 2 were scrapped, the idea for that film was to tell a story that involved a battle between Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Henry Cavill’s Superman. This was set up in the post-credits scene of the film where Cavill’s short-lived return was confirmed only for everything to be scrapped after James Gunn decided to reboot the Superman franchise within his DCU with David Corenswet replacing Cavill in the role of the Man of Steel.
