Nancy Drew was canceled after four seasons. The exact reason for the cancelation is unknown, however, it is likely due to the majority of The CW’s ownership being bought by Nexstar. This acquisition not only led to Nancy Drew’s cancelation but also the cancelation of a majority of The CW shows such as The Flash.
However, Larry Teng, the executive producer for Nancy Drew, revealed via a Twitter (X) thread that The CW told him “that the show would not be picked up for a fifth season as it was too expensive”. Teng later expressed his anger and contempt toward the CW for the last-minute call to him regarding the cancelation of Nancy Drew on the same thread. He then addressed the fans and expressed gratitude towards them for enjoying the finale while also expressing disgust at The CW’s unprofessionalism.
The Nancy Drew cast includes Kennedy McMann, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Riley Smith, Scott Wolf, Alvina August, and Geraldine Chiu. Stephanie Savage and Noga Landau are the series’ co-creators.
