There are only three admirals at a given time. The World Government calls them their “Greatest Military Powers,” considering how they are the strongest Marine officers and fighters. The only ones who are able to fight at their level are their fellow and former admirals and the Four Emperors of the Sea.
In the storyline of One Piece, the current admirals were appointed after the Summit War of Marineford.
One Piece Admirals: After Summit War of Marineford
When Fleet Admiral Sengoku resigned, Aokiji and Akainu were the appointed successors. The two had a ten-day-long battle at Punk Hazard, leading to Akainu’s victory. Meanwhile, Aokiji resigned and joined the Blackbeard Pirates.
The current admirals are Kizaru (Borsalino), Fujitora (Issho), and Ryokugyu (Aramaki).
Kizaru
Borsalino, more known as Kizaru, possesses the Pika Pika no Mi or the Glint-Glint Fruit. It is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that turns its user into a Light Human, letting them create and manipulate light. Kizaru can move at the speed of light and teleport himself. He was already serving as an admiral prior to the Summit War of Marineford.
Fujitora
Issho, more known as Fujitora, was recruited sometime during the timeskip through a World Military Draft. He is an advocate of “Humane Justice” and he was the one who campaigned for scrapping the Seven Warlords of the Sea system. He possesses the Zushi Zushi no Mi or the Press-Press Fruit, a Paramecia-type that allows him to create and control gravity. Fujitora usually applies his Devil Fruit ability to his sword.
Ryokugyu
Aramaki, more known as Ryokugyu, was also recruited sometime during the timeskip through the World Military Draft. He possesses the Mori Mori no Mi or the Woods-Woods Fruit, a Logia-type that makes him a Forest Human. He can create and manipulate flora. At present, he still hasn’t made his full anime debut. However, manga readers have already seen Ryokugyu’s abilities near the end of the Wano arc.
The former admirals are Aokiji (Kuzan), Akainu (Sakazuki), and Sengoku.
Who is the strongest admiral in One Piece?
Based on the old and current admirals in One Piece, many consider Sengoku as the strongest.
Sengoku was also a former fleet admiral, which is the highest rank. He possesses a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit — the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu, or the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Buddha. It lets the user transform into a giant gold Buddha. Sengoku is considered as one of the strongest Marines of his generation. Even Roger and Whitebeard acknowledge him.
Sengoku is physically strong, skilled in combat, and fast. His Buddha form further enhances his physical abilities and he can release incredibly powerful shockwaves. More importantly, he is one of the few people who possesses the Color of the Supreme King Haki.
