With The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White gaining popularity, many fans want to know if the series’ lead is related to Gene Wilder, due to them looking so alike. Is he a close relative of the late Willy Wonka star, which would explain why they look like one another? Here’s all you need to know.
Are Jeremy Allen White and Gene Wilder related?
No, Jeremy Allen White and Gene Wilder are not related to each other in any way.
The 32-year-old American actor who played highly-acclaimed roles such as Lip Gallagher in Showtime and chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in The Bear, shares a clear resemblance with Gene Wilder’s younger self. That’s the reason why many fans presumed Jeremy Allen White could have familial or biological relations with Wilder. However, that isn’t the case.
It is just another situation of actors like Bill Skarsgård and Steve Buscemi, Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard, and many others being look-alikes. They share remarkable resemblances with each other but are in no way related.

Jeremy Allen White was born on February 17, 1991, to parents Eloise Zeigler and Richard White. He was married to Addison Timlin from 2019 to 2023 and shares two daughters, Ezer Billie White and Dolores Wild White, with her.
Gene Wilder’s family
The Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory actor, Gene Wilder (real name Jerome Silberman), was born on June 11, 1933, to Jeanne (Baer) and William J. Silberman.
Wilder got married four times. His first wedding was with Mary Mercier, lasting from 1960 to 65. Mary Joan Schutz was his second wife from 1967-74, and the two adopted a daughter, Katharine Wilder.
His third marriage was with Gilda Radner in 1984. But after her unfortunate passing in 1989, he got hitched with Karen Boyer in 1991. He lived with her until his death in 2016, at the age of 83.
Wilder’s nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman, is an American film director, screenwriter, and film producer. However, in no way are any of his family members related to Jeremy Allen White or his family.
Some fans are hoping that The Bear star could use his talents to portray Wilder in his potential biopic movie in the future, which would be interesting.
