Is John Wick Actually Dead at the End of Chapter 4?

Is John Wick actually dead at the end of Chapter 4?” is biggest question viewers have after watching the movie. Did Keanu Reeves’ seemingly unstoppable character live or did he survive? Can we expect to see John Wick in Chapter 5? Here’s all you need to know.

Did John Wick really die at the end of Chapter 4?

It is implied that John Wick dies at the end of Chapter 4, when he is shot three times and loses consciousness.

Following his glorious duel with Caine and Marquis, the High Table granted John Wick his freedom. Everything finally seems peaceful, though Wick is clearly badly wounded.

After collapsing on the steps, it is implied that John Wick died at that very moment, with the scene changing to the legendary hitman’s funeral attended by Winston and Bowery King. John Wick’s tombstone appears to confirm his death.

If Wick died, it was at a good point in his life. He had achieved everything and earned his freedom. Beating all the impossible odds, he died a free man. If we don’t get another John Wick outing, then Wick’s triumphant ending could be definitive.

However, John Wick has returned from “death” before, and a fifth chapter would feel odd without the titular hitman leading the show. It’s very possible that his implied demise could be used as a means to give him a proper retirement until he is called back for another compelling reason.

How will John Wick return in Chapter 5?

While Lionsgate has always shown interest in making John Wick Chapter 5, Keanu Reeves has maintained his stance that he’d only return if director Chad Stahelski does.

Stahelski has gone back and forth on whether or not he’d be interested in returning for another movie. For now, the state of Chapter 5 is unknown.
