Star Trek: Section 31 Release Date Rumors: When is it Coming Out?

Ever since Paramount made the announcement, the Star Trek Section 31 release date has been on the minds of many hardcore fans of the franchise. In the film, Emperor Philippa Georgiou returns from Star Trek: Discovery to join a secret division of Starfleet. During her new missions, she faces the sins of her past. But when is the film coming out?

Is there a Star Trek: Section 31 release date?

Star Trek: Section 31’s release date could arrive in late 2024 or in 2025.

Initially, the project was supposed to be a series. It had been put under development in 2019. But in April 2023, Variety reported that the show has now become a feature film. Production on it is rumored to begin in October 2023, but the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes might push that date. Depending on when the filming begins, Section 31 could arrive in late 2024 or sometime in 2025. But, the latter possibility seems likelier at the moment of writing.

Michelle Yeoh will return to lead as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 in the film. This time around, she’d be tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets after joining a secret division of Starfleet. But as we explore her character, some demons from her past will come back to haunt her. It’ll be interesting to see which other familiar characters return in Section 31.
