Based on Jack M. Bickham’s 1971 novel of the same name, The Apple Dumpling Gang is a 1975 Disney Western comedy film directed by Norman Tokar. The plot follows a group of orphaned kids in 1879 California. They come upon Theodore and Amos, a pair of foolish robbers who are seeking the gold the kids have uncovered, and Russell Donovan, a gambler who grudgingly assists them. In an effort to keep the kids off the streets and away from people who would steal their gold, Dusty, the female stagecoach driver, is persuaded to wed the gambler who is now looking after them. Meanwhile, Frank Stillwell, the ex-boss of Amos and Theodore, tries to steal the gold and ends up abducting the kids.
