The Mufasa: The Lion King streaming release date is hotly anticipated as fans are wondering when they can stream Disney’s live-action Lion King prequel. In it, we’ll witness Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa recite the story of King Mufasa to a little Lion Cub.

When is the predicted Mufasa: The Lion King streaming release date?

The Mufasa: The Lion King streaming release date is predicted for the final quarter of 2024, based on past release patterns. However, this date isn’t confirmed yet.

It will hit theaters on July 5, 2024, and its streaming release date will only be revealed after that. Throughout 2023, the theatrical-to-streaming release window kept on growing bigger. So, predicting Mufasa: The Lion King’s Disney Plus release date would be trickier. Both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 took 89 days each to arrive on streaming, but The Little Mermaid took 103 days.

However, it’s likely that Mufasa: The Lion King will have an even bigger window between being released in theaters and on Disney Plus because Disney will expect it to be a big blockbuster at the box office, similar to The Lion King ($1.6 billion). Hence, Mufasa: The Lion King could begin streaming in late October 2024, at the earliest. But if it replicates the original’s performance, then we shouldn’t expect it to stream before November or December 2024.
