Is there an Interstellar 2 release date?
No Interstellar 2 release date is planned after the original movie arrived on November 7, 2014.
It has almost been a decade since the original Interstellar was released in theaters, but there hasn’t been any word on Interstellar 2. Neither Christopher Nolan nor Warner Bros. Discovery have shown any interest in developing a sequel.
Barring The Dark Knight Trilogy, Nolan doesn’t usually return for sequels. His Oppenheimer will soon be hitting theaters. But since he doesn’t wish to work with Warner Bros. again, it’s highly unlikely that Interstellar 2 will happen.
The first movie was seen as a one-off, self-contained story. It had a fitting end with Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) reuniting with the older version of his daughter, Murphy (Jessica Chastain) ninety years after leaving Earth.
However, there’s still potential for an Interstellar sequel. Cooper didn’t age much and Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway) was presumably successful in setting up a colony elsewhere. There’s always a chance the two characters could reunite.
Is Interstellar 2 coming out soon?
No, currently there are no plans for Interstellar 2.
It could only happen if Christopher Nolan somehow works things out with Warner Bros. Discovery and comes up with a fitting story that brings Cooper and Brand back. But such a scenario is not very likely.
