Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay Footage from CES

Following the announcement earlier today that the game will arrive in North America on March 21 and in Europe on March 23, BioWare debuted new Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay footage during the NVIDIA keynote at CES. You can now watch the Andromeda gameplay in the player below!

“Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date,” Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare wrote on the game’s site today. “We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems. And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the Frostbite game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience.

“Over this holiday break, developers at BioWare took home a version of the game in what we call the “holiday build.” This is a longstanding studio tradition that goes back to the early days of the original Mass Effect. Many load up a PC or console and go home to play as much as possible at their leisure. Coming back from holiday, the feedback has been great. Getting the endorsement from members of our studio, many of whom played key roles on the original trilogy, was definitely a key factor in helping us lock in on the date.

“Even more exciting for us over the last couple of months has been seeing the excitement build in the community as we’ve started to share more about the game. The passion you have for the franchise continues to drive us. And now, we’re just a couple of months away from delivering a brand new Mass Effect experience to you for the first time in five years – richer, deeper and ready for exploration. We’re excited about how far we are going with the franchise, and we hope you find it’s been worth the wait.”

In the game, players will choose between playing as one of two characters: Scott or Sarah Ryder, twin characters whose father was an N7 just like Commander Shepard in the previous games. Picking one character doesn’t mean the other goes away though, as they will still maintain a presence in the story.

Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way. There, players will lead our fight for a new home in hostile territory as the Pathfinder – a leader of military-trained explorers. This is the story of humanity’s next chapter, and player choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival.

In this new chapter of Mass Effect, meet and recruit all-new, interesting characters caught up in an epic space saga filled with mystery and galactic conflict. Unravel the mysteries of the Andromeda galaxy as you discover rich, alien worlds in the search for humanity’s new home. New additions like destructible environments, boosted jumps for added verticality, and all-new weapons and Biotics make combat more thrilling than ever and with a much more flexible skill and weapon progression tree, you can replicate your play style to make you unstoppable against new, powerful alien enemies.

Mass Effect: Andromeda debuts on March 21 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
