Gearbox & Counterplay Unveil Godfall Gameplay for PlayStation 5 & PC

After unveiling it to be one of the first games to debut on the upcoming next-gen console last week, Gearbox Publishing and Counterplay Games has unveiled official gameplay footage for its upcoming RPG Godfall for both the PlayStation 5 and PC. The trailers can be viewed in the player below!

The action game is set in a high fantasy setting that splits into the realms of Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit that invites players to take on the role of one of the last exalted Knight’s Order to prevent a major apocalyptic event, with three primary character classes to choose from based on their equipped armor sets, known as Valorplates. Additional Valorpates and Augments can be equipped to customize how their character classes play out, with the game supporting single player and up to three players in drop-in drop-out cooperative mode.

The PC gameplay video is narrated by the game’s director Keith Lee as he introduces viewers to the world of Aperion, Valorplates and the loot-driven combat of the project that is set to become the basis for the new “Looter Slasher” genre.

“We’re innovating with Godfall to provide a fresh take on action RPGs by rewarding skill-based offensive gameplay and making every hit matter,” Lee, who is also CEO of Counterplay Games, said in the video. “Namely, we want to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so we plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there’s meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles.”

Godfall is currently set for a holiday 2020 release along with the new Sony console.
