Overwatch 2 & Diablo IV revealed at BlizzCon 2019!
BlizzCon is officially underway in Los Angeles and the acclaimed video game publisher and developer has hit the ground running as they have revealed that a sequel to their hit first-person online shooter Overwatch and long-running RPG Diablo III are on the way, with the announcement videos being available for viewing in the player below!
The first Overwatch hit shelves on 2016 and has seen widespread acclaim from critics and gamers alike and has been one of the best-selling games in the market, grossing over $1 billion net profit in its first year of release and has sparked esports conventions and competitions around it and still sees a large following of players near four years later.
The sequel will see players take on the roles of the world’s heroes in cooperative missions that will see them team up, power up and stand together against an outbreak of threats around the globe, while also getting to battle each other in the next evolution of competitive play, carrying forward existing accomplishments from the players’ time on the first game and loot collections, as well as featuring the current roster, a new generation of heroes and internationally-recognizable maps that widen the scope of the world.
“With Overwatch 2, we’re building the cooperative, narrative-driven game experience that players have been asking for since the original—and that we’ve wanted to make for a long time,” J. Though the Diablo franchise has been around and enjoying success for over 20 years now, it found its biggest hit with the third game in the in the series in 2012, which opened up the franchise to more online communities and has received mostly positive reviews from critics and fans alike and was the best-selling PC game of 2012 with over 12 million copies sold, now being far past 30 million copies.
In Diablo IV, players will attempt to bring hope back to the world by vanquishing evil in all its vile incarnations – from cannibalistic demon-worshipping cultists to the all-new drowned undead that emerge from the coastlines to drag their victims to a watery grave. For the first time in the series, Sanctuary will be a contiguous, seamless landmass comprising diverse regions ranging from the burning desert of Kejhistan, to the verdant werewolf-infested forests of Scosglen, to the harsh and rugged wilderness of the Dry Steppes.
