BioWare and EA celebrated the tenth anniversary of Star Wars: The Old Republic with a livestream revealing its next expansion, Legacy of the Sith.
In the upcoming expansion, the war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire is spreading to new territory as Darth Malgus travels across the galaxy for ancient relics. You return to Manaan, which offers a new base of operations for your faction, as the Legacy of the Sith‘s story unfolds. You’ll also make your way to Elom for a new Flashpoint, and a deep space research facility in an Operation called The R-4 Anomaly.
Additionally, starting with the Legacy of the Sith expansion, the overall player experience will be overhauled with an updated character creation system, as well as a new user interface throughout its tenth anniversary celebration.
Another big change coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic is Combat Styles. This gives an extra bit of depth and customization for you’re created character by separating Class Story from gameplay. For example, as noted by the Twitter thread from the official Star Wars: The Old Republic account, if you choose the Trooper story, you can choose between different Combat Styles including Sniper, Powertech, or Gunslinger.
The release of Legacy of the Sith will also mark the beginning of a new Galactic Season. Titled Shadows of the Underworld, you’ll be able to earn Underworld Syndicate-themed rewards, including the companion Fen Zeil.
In celebration of the tenth anniversary, you can redeem the Heta Kol Stronghold Decoration between now, and July 15. All you have to do is use the code LOTSofSWTOR on the game’s website.
The Legacy of the Sith expansion will be free for active subscribers of Star Wars: The Old Republic. It is scheduled to launch in Holiday 2021.
