Game News: Nintendo Confirms New Console for 2012

Nintendo Co., Ltd, confirmed today in a press release that is has decided to launch a successor to the Wii in 2012. The company said it has sold 86.01 million units of the Wii between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.

“We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles,” Nintendo said.

The company did not provide any further specs. “As for the details of exactly what it will be, we have decided that it is best to let people experience it for themselves at E3,” Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said.

“So I won’t talk about specific details today, but it will offer a new way of playing games within the home,” he added.
