PS3 and Xbox 360 Versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops III Won’t Have Campaign Mode

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will feature only multiplayer and Zombies mode on PS3 and Xbox 360

Activision has announced today that even though Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be making its way to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, the 1-4 player co-operative campaign will not be included on those versions. They wrote the following in a statement:

“As we announced back in June, we know that there are still fans waiting to make the switch to the newest console hardware and developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology have been working tirelessly to bring as much of the Black Ops 3 gameplay as possible to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be available at a reduced price of $49.99 and will include a bonus download of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will thrust players into a dark, gritty future, where cybernetics and biotechnology have given rise to a new breed of soldier. Empowered by Direct Neural Interface (DNI) technology, players will assume the role of Black Ops soldiers that are interconnected, faster, and more lethal than ever in a new four-player co-op campaign and a completely redefined multiplayer experience.

With a new momentum-based, chained movement system that allows players to move fluidly through environments and maintain constant control of their weapon, Call of Duty: Black Ops III is packed with new multiplayer features. In addition to a new weapon customization system that lets players create unique weapon variants, Call of Duty: Black Ops III introduces the new Specialist system, which lets players choose and rank up to nine elite Black Ops soldiers, each with their own unique look, personality, backstory, and devastating weapons and abilities.

It wouldn’t be Call of Duty without zombies mode and “Black Ops III” is no exception. Titled “Shadows of Evil” and taking place in a 1940s film noir setting, the mode will feature the vocal stylings of Jeff Goldblum, Ron Perlman, Heather Graham, Robert Picardo, and Neal McDonough.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC November 6. You can pre-order by clicking here.
