Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 Trailer Sets Release Date

D3 Publisher and developer Yuke’s Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 hits Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 this September. The sequel to EDF’s voxel spinoff, which released in Japan in 2020 and worldwide in 2021, tasks players to defend cube Earth from an all-new enemy.

New voxel Earth Defense Force Game coming to PlayStation and Switch

D3 Publisher announced Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 in October 2023. However, the publisher finally revealed its worldwide release date. The game will launch in Japan on May 23 and hit international markets on September 26.

World Brothers 2 continues the story from the previous game. “Brothers from across the world reunite to face an unprecedented threat brought about by an all-new enemy that threatens to tear the Earth apart all over again,” reads the publisher’s press release. “To restore peace to the voxel Earth, the EDF has been dispatched for an emergency mission the likes of which no one has ever seen before!” Players will form 4-member squads and work together against various voxel enemies.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 also serves as a trip down memory lane for longtime fans. The game features voxel versions of characters and weapons from previous EDF games, including spinoffs and the main series. However, D3 Publisher says players don’t need prior experience to enjoy World Bothers 2. Fans should also check out the trailer, which features a fun song that helps to convey the tone Yuke’s is going for.

Earth Defense Force began with Monster Attack in 2005. The Japanese third-person shooters follow members of an international task force dedicated to defending the world from alien invasions. While the main series goes for more realistic graphics, the World Brothers spinoffs set themselves apart with voxel graphics.
