Bethesda’s upcoming game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is reportedly being considered to launch on Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, despite being initially advertised as an Xbox exclusive.
According to a new report from The Verge, the game will first launch as an Xbox console exclusive, but could make its way to other consoles as early as December 2024.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was once set to be a multi-platform game, as first noted in Microsoft’s lawsuit with the FTC over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. However, following the companies acquisition of Bethesda, a deal was amended to make the game an Xbox exclusive.
The report goes on to mention that Microsoft is potentially exploring the idea of not only bringing Indiana Jones to the PS5 at some point, but also bringing other previously exclusive titles to the Sony console as well.
Alongside Indiana Jones, a recent datamine also suggested that Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush would also be making the move to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch at some point, with The Verge report also noting that a Hi-Fi Rush announcement could happen anytime in the next few weeks.
The company has not commented on any reports as of this time, however.
When does Indiana Jones and the Great Circle take place?
According to MachineGames and Bethesda, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will take place between 1981’s Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, which takes place in 1936, and 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which is set in 1938.
The model for Indy is also made to resemble Harrison Ford, the actor who played the iconic role in every film. While not Ford’s actual voice, voice actor Troy Baker’s performance aims to make Jones seem even more like the movie version.
Currently, no official release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been revealed, with MachineGames announcing that the game will be released sometime later in 2024 for the Xbox and PC.
