The Last of Us Part 2 PS5 Version Reportedly Added to PlayStation Database

Further evidence of a native PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 2 has seemingly emerged.

The Last of Us Part 2 PS5 Version Imminent?

PlayStation Game Size has frequently found its way into the PlayStation’s backend to uncover any unannounced additions to the database, and this time, it claims to have found a native PS5 version of Naughty Dog’s epic 2020 sequel to its most celebrated game.

The Last of Us Part 2 was released on the PS4 in the same year as the PS5 console, but didn’t receive a PS5 version upgrade like other recent first-party exclusives such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ghost of Tsushima. In fact, it’s the last of Naughty Dog’s PS4 titles to get a PS5 upgrade, with Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy getting ports, while The Last of Us got a snazzy remaster with quality-of-life fixes and improved character models.

The PS4 version was, however, able to run at a higher frame rate on PS5 thanks to a free performance patch. The PS5 version may come with a wider array of improvements akin to the jump made between The Last of Us on PS3, and The Last of Us Remastered on PS4.

Last year, there were reports Naughty Dog was making The Last of Us Part 2: The Director’s Cut, and this year, the game’s composer seemed to confirm a PS5 version was in the works.

So it’s a poorly kept secret at this point, and the only things we don’t know are when it’s coming and what improvements it will bring. That it’s been added to the database does suggest it could be revealed sooner rather than later.

For now, you can still buy and play The Last of Us Part 2 on PS4 and PS5 in its native PS4 version.
