Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update Live Now

Developer CD Projekt Red officially launched Cyberpunk 2077’s long-awaited 2.0 update. A free patch released in preparation for the game’s Phantom Liberty DLC, update 2.0 is a massive overhaul of Cyberpunk 2077. However, it’s only available for the PC and next-gen consoles and has higher PC system requirements than before.

Version 2.0 introduces a wide range of improvements to Cyberpunk 2077. As covered in the developer’s recent blog post, players will notice a wide range of changes coming to the game. These include a completely overhauled Police system and a redesigned Perk Tree. The game also now features mechanics related to vehicle combat, greatly improved enemy AI, and an overhaul of Cyberpunk 2077’s hacking mechanics. Meanwhile, grenades and healing items now have limited charges that refill over time.

Players will also notice significant changes to Cyberware, such as introducing a limited Cyberware Capacity. Players can now upgrade Cyberware at Ripperdocks, and some Cyberware now offer stat bonuses based on specific Attributes. Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 also features more immersive Ripperdocks. Players will experience the installation process, like in the first scene with Viktor, rather than a simple shop interface. Furthermore, armor is now a feature of Cyberware rather than clothing. A few specific items still prove bonuses, but most clothes are purely cosmetic.

These are just some of the many changes introduced in Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update. Given the scope of the overhaul, CDPR recommends players start a new game after downloading 2.0. However, this is not a requirement. Players continuing from an old save will have their Perk points refunded, and their first time resetting Attributes is free. CDPR also added a new side quest for bringing players up to speed on the changes to Cyberware.

Unfortunately for some players, as CDPR announced in June, Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 has increased system requirements on PC. This included the game now requiring an SSD instead of a hard drive. Cyberpunk 2077 should still launch if the user’s PC meets the previous minimum requirements, but CDPR will not make any guarantees. PC players wanting to stay on the previous version must opt into update 1.63 on Steam or GOG.
