Alone in the Dark Release Date Delayed for David Harbour Horror Game

Developer Pieces Interactive has chosen to delay the release of its upcoming reimagining of the classic horror game Alone in the Dark.

The survival horror game was due to release next month, but a brutal October release schedule that already contained Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Forza Motorsport, and Alan Wake 2 would have severely hurt the game’s chances.

In a post on social media, a statement from the developer reads,

”Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October.

To ensure a breathtaking experience for everyone, we have made the decision to move the release of #AloneInTheDark to January 16, 2024.”

New Alone in the Dark Release Date

Alone in the Dark is a reimagining of the original survival horror icon and features David Harbour (Stranger Things, Gran Turismo), and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) as the two playable protagonists Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood.

The story sees them travel to Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally fatigued, to investigate the disappearance of Jeremy Hartwood, Emily’s uncle. Once there, it’s apparent strange otherworldly forces are lurking in the shadows of the Manor.

The original release date had been October 25, 2023. The new release date is January 16, 2024, when it will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows.
