Resident Evil Showcase Announced for Next Month, RE4 Remake Coming to PS4

Capcom did dedicate a slot to Resident Evil in its recent Tokyo Game Show stream, but it was a rather brief segment and mostly filled with previously revealed information. However, that’s likely because the company is holding a Resident Evil-specific showcase next month that will focus all on the franchise.

Capcom did not give a specific date and time for the showcase, only that it would air sometime in October. Series Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi stated that it will have more information about the Resident Evil 4 remake, which was, as promised, not at Tokyo Game Show. Given the timing, the event will also possibly have more details on Resident Evil Village‘s upcoming Winters’ Expansion DLC releasing on October 28 and Resident Evil: Re:Verse, the oft-forgotten multiplayer mode that was originally attached to Village before being delayed, which is also coming out on October 28. Resident Evil Village‘s PlayStation VR2 port is also releasing next year and could also make an appearance.

Hirabayashi did have one new detail regarding the Resident Evil 4 remake, noting that it was also coming to PlayStation 4. It was originally announced as only coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but this move will put it on one last-gen system. Like Street Fighter 6, it is not releasing on Xbox One despite it having a PS4 version.
