Assassin's Creed's Future to Be Revealed in September Stream

Assassin’s Creed’s Future to Be Revealed in September

Ubisoft celebrated Assassin’s Creed‘s 15th anniversary through a stream that looked back at the series’ past and also hinted at what’s to come. This future will be elaborated on in September when Ubisoft said it will be holding a “very special event” to “unveil the future of Assassin’s Creed.”

Ubisoft was obviously very vague on what this might be. However, it’s possible that this is when Rift, the alleged codename of the next entry, gets revealed. In February, two different reports from two different reputable outlets corroborated the same information about the unannounced game. It will reportedly star Valhalla‘s Basim Ibn Ishaq, be more focused on stealth, and have a smaller map. Rift was also apparently supposed to be DLC for Valhalla, but was spun out into its own game to fill out Ubisoft’s dry release schedule. The reports stated it would release later in 2022 or sometime in 2023, but given the timing of the event, the latter is more likely.

It’s also possible that Ubisoft will speak about Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the upcoming live-service game that Ubisoft announced in July 2021. Ubisoft stated that Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec were both leading the game, something that Bloomberg said was a source of tension. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier also said it was still a few years away, something that makes sense given the size of the project.

Ubisoft is building up to the event with “surprises, unexpected collaborations, rewards, community activities, and more” and the anniversary event’s website shows a countdown to the first game in September.
