Rabbids Party of Legends

Rabbids: Party of Legends Journeys to the West This Summer

Rabbids: Party of Legends, the latest game to feature Ubisoft’s raving Rabbids, will come stateside on June 30 following an August 2021 release in China. The game follows a quartet of Rabbids who end up in the realm of Chinese mythology following a trip through the washing machine, a fitting backdrop for a set of 50 minigames perfect for a local multiplayer shindig.

The announcement of Party of Legends‘ quick release comes out of left field, as there had been no indication that this Ubisoft Chengdu-developed game would ever make it out of its home country. The game relies on imagery and references to the classic Journey to the West tale, something that doesn’t translate all that well to the United States and other Western territories. Regardless, party game fans and those who enjoy the unique shriek of these chaotic bunnies should rejoice.

Not only is Rabbids: Party of Legends hitting the west, but it’s expanding beyond its original console home on Switch. In addition to the Nintendo console, the game will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. It’s unclear at this time how some of the motion-focused minigames from the original game will translate to more traditional platforms, but it’s not the first time that a game with motion controls has made the jump to the gamepad.

Rabbids: Party of Legends isn’t going to sell gangbusters, but it could gain notoriety simply due to a lack of competition this June, a time when many companies chose to hype up their big holiday releases rather than release new games. Speaking of, this new party game may remind Nintendo gamers that they have another Rabbids adventure on the horizon, as the eagerly anticipated Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is slated for release sometime before April 1, 2023.
