Sifu’s John Wick Mod Adds the Iconic Keanu Reeves Character

Sifu‘s fast-paced and punishing melee combat was obviously influenced by many marital arts films, something that is made quite clear by the Oldboy-inspired hallway fight in the first level. Some also compared the game to newer action films like the John Wick series. And thanks to modders, users with the PC version can now fuse the two together and put the titular Keanu Reeves character into Sifu.

As shown by YouTuber Dan Allen, players can turn the protagonist’s character model in Wick himself after downloading the premium mod from The Beyonders’ Patreon page. This allows people to more accurately play out the action from the films in video game form, something that wasn’t quite afforded to players in the same way with the tepidly received 2019 strategy game John Wick Hex. Given the quickness and brutality of the brawls and the club setting of the second level seen in the video, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Red Circle scenes from the first film.

The Beyonders have created a few other mods that add Street Fighter‘s Chun-Li and Bad Boys‘ Mike Lowery into the game, too. And, as Allen has pointed out on his channel, there are also mods that swap out Sifu‘s hero for Mortal Kombat‘s Scorpion, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, and Marvel’s Daredevil.

And while it is unlikely that Sloclap will be adding new licensed characters like this, the team is planning more for the game for at least one full year, according to an official Twitch stream with Sloclap Co-Founder Pierre Tarno. While there are no specifics, there will at least be more accessibility settings coming along with easier and harder difficulty modes.
