Star Wars 1313 Gameplay Leaks, Features Boba Fett

Star Wars 1313 Gameplay Leak Features Boba Fett on the Hunt

Out of all of the canceled Star Wars games, Star Wars 1313 was one of the more memorable ones because of its impressive showing at E3 2012, one year before the Disney acquisition more or less killed it. Some bits and pieces have trickled out over the years, but now a gameplay video has leaked out, showing over three minutes of gameplay starring Boba Fett.

FEATURED: Three Star Wars Games Including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Announced

This leaked gameplay was uploaded from The Vault, a channel mainly focused on Free Radical’s Battlefront III, yet another canceled Star Wars game. The video shows the bounty hunter walking through some market on Coruscant, a planet that has been featured or mentioned in other Star Wars media like Rogue One, Clone Wars, and The Phantom Menace. It then does a hard cut to an on-foot chase that is reminiscent of Uncharted as Fett pursues his target and completes various acrobatic feats along the way. The video then ends with some unrelated snippets of other parts of the game like dramatic enemy death animations, more platforming, melee brawling, and various other animations that all takes place in a gray testing environment.

There are many unfinished textures in this footage and it’s only available in 480p, meaning it is a little blurry. But it does show what LucasArts was going for and seems like a natural continuation of what was in the E3 2012 demo.

This is not the first time Star Wars 1313 has leaked out onto the internet. An animation test was uploaded to YouTube in 2016 and had some of the same footage seen at the end of the leaked gameplay. In 2020, Christopher Scott, who was a lead environmental artist on the game, uploaded some artwork on his ArtStation page, which also featured Coruscant. That same year, Reddit user LifeByTheSword also uploaded a screen shot of Boba Fett on the same planet and features the same HUD and general look of the leaked footage. Artist Gus Mendonça also released some concept art of the game online a few years ago, too.

President of LucasFilm Kathleen Kennedy said in 2015 that the game was “gold” and that they don’t “want to throw any of that stuff away.” She also noted that they were “spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and [they] may very well develop those things further.” However, that was almost seven years ago and with all of the other Star Wars games in production, it seems unlikely that 1313 will make any official reappearance any time soon and will only live on through leaks like these.
