Jurassic World Evolution 2 Dev Diary Details ‘What If’ Scenarios From the Films

Jurassic World Evolution 2 gives players the ability to create their own parks. But there is also a mode that lets amateur park builders step into the worlds of the films. While previously revealed alongside its announcement, developer Frontier Developments spoke more about the Chaos Theory mode in Jurassic World Evolution 2 and how players will be able to interact with and change scenes from all of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies.

These “what if” scenarios are alternate timelines from what happened in those movies and will also provide authentic species for each level. For example, one such mission tasks players with trying to build a park in San Diego, which is from The Lost World: Jurassic Park. While not detailed, the Indominus rex will be in the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom scenario. The others will have players building a theme park or facility, which will depend on the movie. Game Director Rich Newbold spoke about how this mode was wish fulfillment for the team and its eventual players.

“Chaos Theory, for us, was really exciting as developers because it was a great opportunity for us to go back to movies that we really loved and grown up with and provide players that opportunity to go and experience these ‘what if’ scenarios and wish fulfillment of being in those moments from the films as they have their own impact in what’s happening in these scenarios,” he said.

The campaign takes place after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom where the dinosaurs get off Isla Nublar. The player will be responsible for going into the wild, tracking them down, and safely taking them in; a journey that also brings in characters from the first game as well as people from the films like Dr. Ian Malcolm, Claire Dearing, and Owen Grady.
