Saints Row Reboot Teased Ahead of Gamescom Opening Night

Gamescom’s opening night is almost here, and ahead of the festivities, Geoff Keighley and Saints Row are teasing some sort of announcement regarding the game.

In a post on Friday on Twitter, Keighley said that the team behind the upcoming conference was “Bossing it” with their announcements this year. He included a photo of a wall covered in graffiti, with the word “Rebooting” spray-painted on it and the iconic fleur-de-lis symbol of Saints Row right next to it.

While this isn’t concrete confirmation of anything, it does seem as if Keighley is very openly hinting at a potential reboot of Saints Row, with fans already anticipating that a remake of the first game will be announced on Wednesday. Saints Row’s own Twitter profile also joined in on the fun, tweeting out the eyeball emojis alongside the same image of the spray-painted wall.

The original Saints Row was released back in 2006 for the Xbox 360, and with its 15th anniversary approaching at the end of the month, it would be a good time for THQ to announce a remake. While THQ Nordic did confirm a couple of years ago that a new Saints Row game was in development, all signs seem to be pointing toward a potential remake here rather than anything new.

Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait too long, as Gamescom kicks off on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, with an Opening Night Live showcase that’s set to feature a ton of games. The show begins at 1:30 p.m. ET with a half-hour pre-show, followed by a two-hour main event.
