Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Datamine Hints at Return of a Past Protagonist

Assassin’s Creed has almost always had costumes from prior games, but it sounds like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is going one step further. According to a recent datamine, Valhalla is set to get an update or expansion featuring Kassandra, one of the protagonists from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Just be warned that this will contain major spoilers for Odyssey‘s The Fate of Atlantis DLC.

As reported by Eurogamer, noted Assassin’s Creed leaker J0nathan talked about his findings in a YouTube video (which is all in French). He explains that he found lines of dialogue mentioning the canonical Odyssey hero and is still trying to reconstruct them since it is quite a lot. J0nathan even highlights one line where Kassandra asks Eivor about their hidden blade. Regardless, it appears as though Eivor will be whisked away to the Scottish island of Skye (which is just northwest of England) to meet someone who looks like Randvi, the woman that hangs around the map at the Ravensthorpe base. This is a sly nod to fans who thought Randvi looked like Kassandra in the early trailers.

For those wondering about how these characters who lived around 1,300 years apart can meet, it’s all explained in the Fate of Atlantis DLC. In this episodic storyline, it is revealed that Kassandra gains immortality through the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus. Since she became immortal in the DLC, it makes sense that she would be able to live long enough to cross paths with Eivor. She even meets Layla, the modern-day protagonist introduced in Origins, in that DLC as well, which is shown in the above picture.

Ubisoft has not mentioned what kind of DLC Valhalla would be getting in its second year. The company only said that Valhalla would be getting more DLC and only showed a vague gateway of some kind. It’s not even clear if this Kassandra questline would be paid or part of a free update, but the former is more likely.

The first year of Valhalla DLC is about to wrap up. The Siege of Paris, its second premium expansion, is set to release on August 12 and bring a whole new country with it, similar to May’s Ireland-based Wrath of the Druids.
