Hi-Rez Studios’ MOBA Smite is getting a new – and somewhat unexpected – batch of crossover content this July.

The game, which debuted way, way back in 2014 is still going strong in its free-to-play form and will be boosted further by new content from the smash Netflix show Stranger Things. The crossover was confirmed during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest presentation, which kicked off a busy week in gaming announcements.

The Stranger Things x Smite Battle Pass will launch on July 13 on all platforms and will feature a mind-bending upside down arena map, as well as at least six new characters. The Demogorgon Bakasura and The Mind Flayer Sylvanus will stand on one side, whilst Eleven Scylla and Hopper Apollo will take up arms on the other. Prestige Track characters will also be available, in the form of Starcourt Eleven and P.I. Apollo.

We would expect more details to be announced during Netflix’s upcoming Geeked Week, which will also feature the erstwhile Mr. Keighley, and which kicks off tomorrow.
