Tomb Raider to Surpass 6 Million Units Sold this Month

This week marks one year since Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released their reboot of the famous “Tomb Raider” franchise to widespread critical acclaim. Today, Head of Studios Darrell Gallagher posted a note on the official Tumblr for the game with a few remarks on the franchise’s success and its future.

“By the end of this month we will surpass 6 million units for our Tomb Raider reboot, and, having achieved profitability back in 2013 Tomb Raider has exceeded profit expectations and continues to make significant contributions to our overall financial performance… And like every great adventure, the story continues long after the initial launch. It’s great to be able to look back at the last twelve months and share some of the achievements we are really proud of. We can’t wait to continue our adventures with Lara in the sequel that is in development at Crystal Dynamics. We are also looking forward to building on the success and lessons learned from the reboot to continue redefining and setting new benchmarks for Tomb Raider in the years to come.”

What are you hoping to see in the future of Tomb Raider? Tomb Raider is available now for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
