Get a Slice of Action with This Short Samurai Jack Fan Film

During its short run on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004, Genndy Tartakovsky’s series “Samurai Jack” was considered an animation landmark that blended stylized action with cinematic storytelling. Now an animator, who goes by the handle avemagnadude, has created a brief CG-animated tribute to Jack and his battle against the shape shifting-demon Aku, which you can check out below!

Over the years there have been many attempts by Tartakovsky to jump-start a 2D “Samurai Jack” feature that would conclude the show properly, with everyone from Bad Robot to Warner Bros. to Sony. There have also been a few filmmakers like Brett Ratner and Tarsem Singh who have expressed interest in making a live-action feature, though neither filmmaker made any major headway.

Right now the director has this September’s Hotel Transylvania 2 and his own original project titled Can You Imagine? (described as “a trip through a young boy’s imagination”) keeping him busy, so sadly don’t expect Jack to be back anytime soon.
