Steven Spielberg to Make Oscar Show Appearance

Academy Award-winning director/producer Steven Spielberg will present at the 76th Academy Awards on February 29th, show producer Joe Roth announced today.

Spielberg won Best Picture and Directing Oscars in 1993 for Schindler’s List and a Directing Oscar for Saving Private Ryan in 1998. He also was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1986, given to a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production. Spielberg received three additional Directing nominations for Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. The Extraterrestrial and three Best Picture nominations for E.T. The Extraterrestrial, The Color Purple and Saving Private Ryan.

Spielberg has just completed principal photography for The Terminal. Among his many other credits are Catch Me if You Can, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report, Amistad, Empire of the Sun, Poltergeist, Jurassic Park and Jaws.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2003 will be presented on February 29, 2004, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. (PST) with a half-hour arrivals segment.
