Spider-Ham Comic From Phil Lord And Chris Miller now available
On the same day as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s arrival on Netflix, the film’s screenwriter Phil Lord and producer Chris Miller took to Twitter to reveal that a comic co-written by the creative duo around Peter Porker, aka The Spectacular Spider-Ham, has hit shelves!
Originally announced back in April, the comic, entitled Spider-Man Annual – Featuring Spider-Ham #1, is penned by both Lord and Miller and Spider-Gwen writer and co-creator Jason Latour, whose creation also appeared in the Oscar-winning animated Marvel crossover, and is drawn by David Lafuente and Rico Renzi. Catch up on Spider-Ham’s older adventures by purchasing the Complete Collection.
The official plot reads as follows:
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street, brought their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman and the script was written by Phil Lord. The producers are Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Christina Steinberg.
The film was a box office smash, grossing over $375 million at the box office on a budget of $90 million and earned rave reviews from critics for its animation, story, characters, humor and voice cast and went on to win the Best Animated Feature award at the Golden Globes and Academy Awards. A sequel, animated TV spin-offs and film spin-offs entitled Spider-Women are all currently in development, with Mulaney also having pitched a Spider-Ham solo film.
