Over the weekend, photos and video from a high school play based on director Ridley Scott‘s classic sci-fi horror film Alien appeared online. The stage production was made by the talented and creative members of the North Bergen High School Drama Club in New Jersey, gaining notoriety online due to its impressive and detailed set design and costumes. “Our performance of Alien really shows you can do so much with so little and as long as there is a passion there to do these things, they are possible,” art director Steven Defendini said in an interview with Buzzfeed News. “We don’t have really any budget — we recycle everything, everything is repurposed and recycled 10 times over until we get the look we need,”

Released in 1979, Alien was led by Academy Award-nominated actress Sigourney Weaver. Her performance as the fearless and badass Ellen Ripley launched her into stardom and solidified her as a pop culture icon. The film franchise consists of eight movies which have grossed over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
