CS Video: Luke Evans on Dracula Untold and the Franchise’s Future

Now available on Blu-ray and DVD, Dracula Untold is Universal Pictures’ latest entry in the studio’s enduring “Universal Monsters” franchise and stars Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit) as Vlad, a cinematic amalgamation of truth and myth that blends the actual Romanian ruler with the legend of Dracula, the Bram Stoker horror icon that Vlad inspired. All this week, ComingSoon.net has been touring various locations in Romania tied to the real-life Vlad and we’re wrapping things up with an exclusive video interview with Evans. Check it out in the player below!

If you missed them from earlier in the week, be sure to check out our tour of Transylvania’s Bran Castle and our visit to Targoviste, the former capitol from where the real life Vlad ruled Wallachia for an overview of the rich history and folklore that fueled Bram Stoker’s original 1897 novel and director Gary Shore’s new “origin story” take on the character.

Conducted in Bucharest at the tail end of our trip, the below interview with Evans features the star reflecting on his own interpretations of Vlad, the film’s balance of truth and fiction and speculating on where he’d like to see the Dracula and the Universal Monsters franchise head in the future!
