The following is from the DVD cover:

“Emmy Award winner Tina Fey writes, executive produces and stars as Liz Lemon, the head-writer of a live variety program in New York City. Liz’s life is turned upside down when brash new network executive Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin in his Golden Globe winning role) interferes with her show, bringing the wildly unpredictable Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) into the cast. Now it’s up to Liz to manage the mayhem and still try to have a life. Join in the behind-the-scenes hilarity with the complete first season (21 episodes) on DVD.”

Mini-Review:
I never really followed “30 Rock” when the first season aired on NBC. I saw an episode once or twice and I enjoyed it, but not enough to feel obligated to follow it religiously. When it arrived on DVD, I got a chance to view it a little more in depth.

“30 Rock” has an undeniably strong cast. Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan are all very funny and seem very comfortable in their roles. The supporting actors are all great, too. Guest appearances by Rachel Dratch, Emily Mortimer, Rip Torn, Isabella Rossellini, and Sean Hayes also offer up a lot of great funny moments. The writing is really clever and as a “Star Wars” geek, I appreciate all the “Star Wars” references in the show. I mean, Tina Fey threatened to cut someone open like a Taun Taun and compared herself to Admiral Ackbar in the same episode. That’s got to be a television first.

If you’re a fan of Tina Fey, SNL, or you’re just looking for a solid comedy series, you’ll probably be pretty happy with “30 Rock.”
