Synopsis:
The following is from the DVD cover:

“How did two self-absorbed dimwits who basically wasted their lives watching TV and playing air guitar inspire three DVD box sets, five years of television, a hit movie, a hit album and in the process change the course of comedy, animation and pop culture?

Vision.

Beavis and Butt-Head’s unique vision of the world, a world divided into boobs and butts, things that are cool and things that suck, had never appeared before on television. It immediately struck something deep and dumb in America’s collective unconscious. To Beavis and Butt-Head’s limited and dawning imagination, everything became fresh and full of wonder, as to the mind of a newborn babe or like when you blow on your thumb real hard until you pass out.”

Mini-Review:
I used to watch Beavis and Butt-Head on MTV back in college with my roommates. It was a guilty pleasure and we laughed at the dumb antics of the cartoon morons. (We were even ashamed to admit that we actually did some of the stupid stunts that B&B did on the show.) So seeing them again on DVD was quite an experience, especially since I was trying to keep my young kids from checking it out. Since idiocy never gets old, the cartoons actually still hold up pretty well. I thought they’d be out of date, but that wasn’t the case. If anything, it’s the music videos that are parodied that seem out of date. And, admittedly, some of the jokes can be repetitive. The cartoons might need to be taken in small doses.

This DVD collection is kind of odd because they can’t put an entire season of episodes in one set. They don’t have the rights to all the music videos to re-sell them on DVD. Instead, the cartoons have been ripped out and a few of the videos are included. While B&B fans might be upset, they should be happy with the massive number of bonus features included. The centerpiece is a candid interview with Mike Judge and some of the crew from the series. It’s about 25 minutes long and it discusses the highs and lows of the series. Also included are rare commercials, cameo appearances at the 2005 VMA’s, short videos, and more. You’ll also find the cartoon that started it all, Frog Baseball, in original, uncut form. A few of Mike Judge’s other endeavors are also highlighted.

If you like edgy, crude animation or if you’re an established Beavis and Butt-Head fan, then this is a DVD set you’ll definitely want to add to your collection.
