Swiss Army Man, The Purge: Election Year, American Horror Story: Hotel, X-Men: Apocalypse and more come home October 4

Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top titles arriving this week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue films and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

We’re kicking off the week with a trio of clips from two October 4 titles. In the first player below, you can take a look behind the scenes at The Purge: Election Year. In the player just below that, we’ve also got a clip from Laid in America, the new comedy starring YouTube stars KSI and Caspar Lee. Finally, in the bottom player, we’ve got a scene from the bizarre black comedy Swiss Army Man (starring Paul Dano and, in the part of a decaying corpse, Harry Potter franchise star Daniel Radcliffe)!

Other recent big screen releases coming home October 4 include Bryan Singer‘s franchise sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, the post apocalyptic thriller Into the Forest (starring Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood)and the indie comedy Joshy (starring Thomas Middleditch). There’s also the animated feature Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and the schlocky franchise sequel Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.

Titles hitting DVD only October 4 include Joshua Marston’s enigmatic drama Complete Unknown (starring Rachel Weisz and Michael Shannon), Andy Tennant’s Wild Oats (starring Jessica Lange and Shirley MacLaine) and the nature documentary Amazonia (narrated by Martin Sheen).

There are quite a few horror titles arriving October 4 to get movie fans ready for Halloween. Look for the first ever Blu-ray of the legendary Stephen King miniseries IT, the recent supernatural thriller Satanic, the highway serial killer tale Fender Bender and Hong-jin Na’s acclaimed tale of terror, The Wailing.

There are also some great catalogue titles coming home October 4. Sony continues their series of Frank Capra classics with a Blu-ray edition of 1936’s Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and, thanks to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the week delivers a three-disc Prince Movie Collection, which includes Blu-rays of Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge. Rounding off the classics is Warner Archive‘s new Blu-ray edition of Nicolas Ray’s 1951 noir On Dangerous Ground.

On the small screen front, October 4 brings us the latest season of FX‘s hit horror anthology series, American Horror Story: Hotel. There’s also the fourth and final season of Cinemax‘s Banshee, the third and final season of Showtime‘s Penny Dreadful and the first half of HISTORY‘s Vikings season four. There’s a pair of comic book adaptations coming home with the arrival of the first season of AMC‘s Preacher and, via Warner Archive, the complete Constantine, which makes its HD debut.

Other television titles arriving October 4 include the sixth season of Cartoon Network‘s The Venture Brothers and two complete series sets. Dexter reissues the complete hit series in one box while the complete Perry Mason also arrives on DVD only.

Making its Digital HD debut this week is Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond. Then, on Friday, Netlfix debuts Ava DuVernay‘s new documentary 13th, which takes a hard look at the way the US justice system deals with race.
