Recent big screen releases coming home March 8 include Ron Howard‘s 19th century epic In the Heart of the Sea, Paul McGuigan’s new Mary Shelley adaptation Victor Frankenstein, Justin Kurzel’s recent take on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and Steve Martino’s acclaimed Charles Schulz celebration, The Peanuts Movie.

Also arriving March 8 are Drafthouse Films’ The Tribe and Guy Maddin and Evan Johnson’s The Forbidden Room.

Two direct-to-home video sequels debut March 8 in the form of the animated Open Season: Scared Silly and (on DVD only) Punk’s Dead: SLC Punk 2.

Shout! Factory has a double treat for Species fans. Following the special edition release of the first film last year, their Scream Factory label brings home a special edition Blu-ray of Species II as well as another Blu-ray that includes Species III & IV with their own set of features.

The Criterion Collection this week inducts Jacques Rivette’s debut feature, Paris Belongs to Us.

Warner Archive this week offers a double helping of Eleanor Parker films with 1948’s The Woman in White and 1957’s Lizzie. They’ve also got an RKO Varieties Triple Feature that includes Make Mine Laughs, Variety Time and Footlight Varieties. Their Golden Harvest collection, meanwhile, grows with the additions of A Terra-Cotta WarriorHe’s a Woman, She’s a Man and The Blade.

A trio of catalogue ’80s cult classic catalogue titles hit Blu-ray for the first time. Hitting store shelves March 8 are *batteries not includedHoward the Duck and Xanadu.

Small screen releases hitting March 8 offer a few DVD only releases, including the sixth (and seemingly final) season of the much-beloved Community, the first season of Netflix‘s sitcom sensation Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the final season of the cop drama Rookie Blue, and a complete series box set of Hogan’s Heroes. There’s also the second season of WGN America‘s Manhattan (available on Blu-ray) and IFC‘s tongue in cheek miniseries, The Spoils of Babylon (on DVD only).

Debuting via Digital HD this week is the grand finale to the hugely successful Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
