Scott Peterson is giving his first interview in Peacock’s Face to Face with Scott Peterson documentary. He has been serving life in prison for more than two decades now for the murders of his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner. People Magazine reported that in the upcoming three-part documentary series, the convicted murderer continues to maintain his innocence. The docuseries premieres on August 20, 2024.
In an exclusive, the outlet stated that Face to Face with Scott Peterson documentary director Shareen Anderson talked about her conversations with the inmate. Anderson claimed Scott, now serving his sentence in California’s Mule Creek State Prison, is “optimistic and confident” that ongoing efforts to free him will be successful. Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Innocence Project began investigating his “claims of actual innocence.” The organization believes that DNA evidence can prove Scott’s innocence.
The interview between Scott Peterson and Shareen Anderson happened via video sessions. In the video call, Scott assured, “I didn’t kill my family,” alleging that the “so-called investigation” relied on circumstantial evidence. He also alleged that prosecutors and investigators ignored other potential leads that could have led them to Laci Peterson and their unborn son’s real killer(s).
Scott Peterson calls himself ‘a total a-hole’ for having an affair with Amber Frey in Face to Face documentary
Reportedly, Scott Peterson calls his affair with Amber Frey, which began a month before the murders of Laci Peterson and their unborn son Conner, “horrible.” He said, “It’s horrible. I was a total a-hole to be having sex outside our marriage.” At the time, Frey was a massage therapist from Fresno, California. She later told authorities that Scott never told her about Laci and claimed he was a widower.
Scott Peterson believes the investigation authorities and prosecutors conducted completely relied on circumstantial evidence. Now, he is speaking out in Peacock’s Face to Face with Scott Peterson to find justice and appeal to people to hear his side of the story. The inmate alleges the investigation fixated on him as detectives ignored other potential leads.
Prosecutors alleged that Scott Peterson murdered his wife Laci, who was eight months pregnant, to get out of the marriage. They claimed he wanted to avoid giving Laci spousal pay and child support. Now, Scott calls these allegations “offensive” and “disgusting,” stated another People Magazine report. He said, “I certainly regret cheating on Laci, absolutely. It was about a childish lack of self-esteem, selfish me traveling somewhere, lonely that night because I wasn’t at home. Someone makes you feel good because they want have sex with you.”
During the interview for the Face to Face documentary, Scott Peterson also mentioned, “I regret not testifying [at my trial].” Scott said, “But if I have a chance to show people what the truth is, and if they are willing to accept it.” He further added, “It would be the biggest thing that I can accomplish right now—because I didn’t kill my family.”
Scott Peterson claimed he went fishing on Christmas Eve in 2002 when Laci Peterson went missing. Investigators focused on Scott after learning about his affair with Amber Frey. Then, the following April, Laci and their unborn son Conner’s bodies washed up on the shores of San Francisco Bay. Within days, authorities arrested Scott in La Jolla, California, and found that he had bleached his hair and had $15,000 in cash. Prosecutors later argued he was trying to flee, but Scott claims he was “never running from the police.”
Now, Scott Peterson, who gave the Face to Face interview from Mule Creek State Prison, believes he may get an early release. The Los Angeles Innocence Project is investigating his claims of innocence in an attempt to help find justice. Previously, a judge granted new DNA testing on a piece of duct tape from the case. Officials with the LA Innocence Project believe this DNA can lead them to other potential suspects.
