When did Manchester City sign Maximo Perrone?

Manchester City signed Maximo Perrone from the Argentine soccer club Vélez Sarsfield in January 2023. According to BBC News, Perrone signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that cost £8 million.

Per Manchester City’s official website, Perrone played for his former club 33 times, where he scored thrice and provided two assists. Furthermore, he took Vélez Sarsfield to the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores. In February 2023, he made his senior debut for his current club as a substitute, in a 4-1 victory over Bournemouth. In an interview with Manchester City press, Perrone revealed that his Argentine teammate, Julián Álvarez, helped him adapt to the English playing conditions. He also added that he aimed to excel in every training session.

Perrone said, “I have to train. My goal is to train, give my best in every training session, and then things will come whenever they come. There’s no better place than this right now. I follow Julian everywhere. He’s a top guy and he’s helping me with everything. (We have spoken) mostly about how things outside the pitch are. Where to live, the weather, and those sorts of things. We haven’t spoken much about football.”

Perrone also explained that he always tried to follow Manchester City’s game because several players were from his home country. His jersey number is 32, and he said that the reason he selected it was because of personal reasons. However, he is aware that the former Argentine player, Carlos Tevez, donned the blue jersey and the same number. He said, “I always tried to watch City because there were these (Argentine) players here. I like the number 32; I’ve always liked it. There are also a few personal reasons behind it too, but I also know that Carlos Tevez used this number.”

Maximo Perrone was born on January 7, 2003, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
