Dr. Paolo Macchiarini is an infamous Swiss-Italian surgeon who became famous for his revolutionary developments in medicine. According to the Guardian, he developed the world’s first plastic organs. However, his empire soon crumbled.

From 2011 to 2014, he conducted experimental procedures on eight people, out of whom seven died. Furthermore, an external assessment in 2015 found him guilty of research misconduct.
