Scott Pilgrim Fans Have Huge Reason to Celebrate as Franchise Returns in Awesome Way

Scott Pilgrim fans have every reason to celebrate. The news of Scott Pilgrim returning will surely have fans stoked amid San Diego Comic-Con festivities.

What is the new Scott Pilgrim project?

The fictional character of Scott Pilgrim has been around for quite some time now. However, despite the character’s popularity, there haven’t been many announcements related to the imaginary Canadian slacker. But all of that changed when writer Bryan Lee O’Malley announced that a brand new comic is hitting the market soon. O’Malley revealed that his latest comic will be titled Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott, and will be published by Oni Press (via Gizmodo).

This will be a pleasant surprise for the fans. The last time a Scott Pilgrim comic came out was way back in 2010, when the series drew to a conclusion. While some colored editions of the comic were released in between, no new stories kept the fans hooked.

The latest comic will serve as a prequel to the beat-‘em-up video game sharing the same title. The comic will span 24 pages and include an introduction of over 16 pages. This will describe in detail how Scott Pilgrim will battle his doppelgänger, Metal Scott. Going by the official synopsis of the comic, Pilgrim will have to battle a “new threat.” The conclusion of the synopsis reads, “Now, after a period of peace, a new threat is about to emerge. Are our heroes ready? Let’s find out!!!”

O’Malley had never thought that Scott Pilgrim would go on to become such a hit. Speaking to ComingSoon Senior Movie News Editor Brandon Schreur back in 2024, the writer confessed, “No way. No. I definitely thought that, at most, my friends and family would try to read it and maybe they would laugh. I remember having a release party and really struggling to get people to show up. Trying to get people to buy it and feeling like it was just going to go down the toilet right away. Over the years, it just kind of snowballed and kept growing.” After all these years, having his creation gain so much popularity must have given O’Malley a surreal feeling of joy and satisfaction.

Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott drops November 2026.
