Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Anime Adaptation Being ‘Restarted’

The official website for the Toilet-bound Hanako-kun anime has announced that the popular anime is being “restarted,” with a premiere window of 2023. No information about the staff for the new adaptation has been released yet, though a teaser trailer was released as part of the initial announcement.

Based on the manga by Iro Aida, the first anime adaptation of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun premiered nearly three years ago in January 2020. It was 12 episodes long and apparently excluded many scenes from the manga, so this new adaptation could possibly seek to be more accurate to the source material.

You can check out the Toilet-bound Hanako-kun teaser trailer below:

“At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san,” reads the series’ synopsis. “Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san … is a boy!”
