Super Crooks Trailer Teases Netflix Anime From My Hero Academia Studio

Netflix has dropped the full Super Crooks trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of Mark Millar’s popular graphic novel of the same name. The 13-episode series will be available for streaming on November 25.

The video, which you can check out below, features a group of super-powered villains as they take on their one final heist. It also teases the extremely difficult challenges they’ll face before they could achieve their goal of becoming millionaires.

First published in 2012, Super Crooks was written by Mark Miller, and was illustrated by Leinnil Francis Yu. The anime adaptation was first announced last 2019. Following the cancellation of the Jupiter’s Legacy series, Millar has confirmed that the streamer has now shift its focus to developing a live-action adaptation of the Super Crooks.

“In this anime adaptation, small-time crook Johnny Bolt recruits the ultimate crew for one last heist — for real!” says the official logline. “From comic book legend Mark Millar, this super-powered heist story about eight super-villains is jam-packed with action and told in 13 30-minute episodes lushly produced by Bones.”

Joining Tsuda Kenjiro as the voice of Johnny are Hiroshi Yanaka, Yasuji Kimura, Pierre Taki, Junichi Sawabe, Hisao Egawa, Eiji Takamoto, Subaru Kimura, Tetsu Inada, Wataru Hatano, and KENN.

The Supercrooks anime is produced by acclaimed Japanese studio Bones. The company is best known for animating My Hero Academia. Carole & Tuesday director Motonobu Hori will direct the show, while Dai Sato will oversee scripts, and Takafumi Mitani is the character designer. Also credited is Stanislas Brunet for concept design.
