The Beginning After the End: Who is Alea?

The Beginning After the End has been in many manhwa and novel readers’ mouths. This famous story written by TurtleMe and illustrated by Fuyuki 23 has been called the best manhwa of the last few years. The manhwa has continued to grow in popularity since its release in 2018. This is due to the immense thought and consideration TutleMe put into world-building and character design. Among the numerous characters in the story, one character has failed to escape everyone’s lips: Alea Triscan. Despite not having a prominent role in the series, her brief interaction with Arthur stole the hearts of fans.

The Beginning After the End: Alea’s Impact on the Series

Alea Triscan was one of the six lances of Dicathen, representing and protecting the kingdom of Elenoir. She and five other characters were given rings that enabled them to achieve the white stage of their mana core. However, her promotion was short-lived as she was one of the first people to encounter the Vrita, which ultimately caused her to lose her life. Her position is eventually given to Arthur in the light novels.

Being a white-core mage, Alea was one of the strongest mages in Dicathen. Despite claiming to be the weakest lance, she is regarded as one of the strongest augmentation mages in Dicathen. Her swordsmanship, sensory abilities, and mastery of plant magic made her a force to be reckoned with.

Alea first met Arthur at Xyrus Academy, where she saw him spying on Bairon with intense bloodlust. She confronted and quickly disarmed him before warning him to stay away from Bairon. She tells him that Bairon is way stronger than her, a fact, which does not sit well with her. Alea’s mission in the Hell Jaw dungeon proved the deadliest she had ever been.

She lost most of her men trying to restrain the dreaded mana beast but escaped to another dungeon. There, she encountered the Vritra, who severely wounded her and left her for dead. Arthur stumbles on her body, and she transfers her memories to him. She apologizes for traumatizing him. Arthur consoles her while she laments about her regrets in this life. The interaction between the two left many in tears and was a significant turning point in Arthur’s character development.
