On Sunday, May 5, the official website for Pom’s Senpai wa Otokonoko television anime unveiled a new key visual for the upcoming anime. Additionally, the post also revealed the theme songs and the release date for the anime.
The highly anticipated anime is based on the Poms manga of the same name. Pom first released the manga in 2019 on the Line Webtoon app.
Senpai wa Otokonoko Anime: Everything you need to know
Pom’s highly anticipated anime will be a part of the 2024 summer lineup. The anime will be released on July 5 at 12:55 a.m. JST on Fuji TV and other Japanese channels. Meanwhile, international viewers can stream it on Crunchyroll. Reportedly, Kujira will perform the opening song “Wagamama” and the ending song “Are ga Koi Datta no kana.”
The main cast includes Akira Sekine as Saki Aoi, Shūichirō Umeda as Makoto Hanaoka, and Yūma Uchida as Ryūji Taiga. As for staff, Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki director Shinsuke Yanagi will direct the anime at Project No. 9. Additionally, Shōto Shinkai is in charge of character design, Yoriko Tomita handles series scripts, and Yukari Hashimoto will compose the music.

Webtoon is responsible for releasing the manhwa in English and describes it as “Can true love really overcome any obstacles? Saki, a high school student, confesses her feelings to Makoto. Taken aback, Makoto reveals his secret, but the sudden discovery doesn’t seem to bother Saki who is already head over heels for him. After being rejected, Saki asks Ryuji, Makoto’s childhood friend, for some advice on how to win his heart. A love triangle unfolds when Ryuji realizes that he might also have some feelings for his old friend.”
