Chainsaw Man chapter 163 recap: Denji is rescued from the Tokyo Devil Detention Center

Chainsaw Man chapter 163, titled “Dream Balls,” marks the return of a conscious Denji. However, even though he had been rescued from the Tokyo Devil Detention Center, his welcome was unexpectedly painful. The chapter starts with Asa, Haruka, Nobana, and others in an unknown place. This indicates that the group had fled the Tokyo Devil Detention Center. Haruka idly switches between channels on television only to find reports of a scandal involving a famous personality, Koma Komagawa.

Meanwhile, a channel shows an expert analyzing the scandal and confirming that accusations thrown at Koma were baseless. Nobana, who reveals himself as Koma Komagawa’s fan, is relieved to see the analysis. However, Haruka mocks how the news channels have nothing better to show than a scandal, even though numerous people have been turning into monsters amidst a raging war. Then, pointing to the group, he jeers at the news channels that do not even bother to report terrorists breaking out of prison.

Haruka also comments that everything feels like a dream. Asa agrees with him since she lost her arm. She adds that Denji, with whom she has a history, being Chainsaw Man feels like a dream as well. Soon, the issue reveals that they were all hiding in Fami’s hideout. The panel then shows Denji suddenly awake while everyone else is talking. A confused Denji asks Asa about her arm, further inquiring about his present location.

When Denji asks Asa about her arm again, she answers that his friend chopped it, but he does not know the reason behind it. For someone who woke up after a long slumber, Denji feels disoriented and wonders if he is dreaming. However, Katana Man kicks Denji in his groin. While he was recovering from the pain, Yoru kicked him in the same region once again. Soon after, the duo asks Denji to transform into Chainsaw Man.
