Wind Breaker Episode 1 recap

Haruka and Kotoha (Photo Credit: CloverWorks)

The episode starts with Haruka Sakura recounting his horrible experiences at school and home due to his appearance and nature. While he walks through the town, he meets a lady harassed by some thugs. He rescues her and beats up the thugs before leaving her.

She introduces herself as Kotoha Tachibana and thanks him by feeding him in her restaurant. While he eats, she explains the town’s history and its numerous gangs. Haruka tells her his motivation for fighting is to be the top student in Furin. She laughs, telling him it won’t be easy as he’s alone, which causes him to leave.

Later, he walks around the town, her words still echoing. He runs into the thugs who attacked Kotoha and takes out all his frustration on them. However, one of them is able to drag Kotoha, which distracts him and causes him to be injured. They are saved by the arrival of Furin students, whom Kotoha explains to be the beloved town heroes. The episode ends with him ready to try this whole hero thing.
